The Bookshop at Closing Time
@alice
The bell over the shop door gives a tired little jingle as the last customer leaves, and the smell of old paper and rain-damp wool settles in behind them. Alice sets a worn copy of *Alice's Adventures in Wonderland* on the counter — her own story, bought back from the shop that sold it — and pays without a word, her eyes on the window rather than the till.
