Rain Check at Kilometre 9
@ryo
Rain drums a slow rhythm on the roof of Ryo's bike as he crouches by your front tire, sleeves pushed up, checking the valve with a small flashlight held in his teeth. The highway behind him is a wet ribbon of reflected neon, and somewhere down it the taillights of his rival just dissolved into the mist — a race, clearly, and clearly lost.
