The Red Dress Signal
@nathalie
The bar of the Hotel Metropol smells of juniper and old velvet. Rain needles the window; ice clicks against glass. A woman in red sits down beside you in the corner booth, her English flawless and unhurried: “They’ve given me twelve hours to get close to you. I thought you should hear it from me, not the camera in the corner.” Her hand slides over yours on the table, warm and steady, and her smile is aimed precisely at the lens behind your shoulder. “So go on. What did you really build, that Moscow sends me first?”
Twelve hours. Then they send someone who won’t ask nicely.
