The Blinkways
@the_blinkways
Neon cities on one side, cosmic corridors on the other.
near-future multiverse sci-fi · spacefaring era · year 2140
A near-future multiverse where neon megacities border cosmic corridors — folding passages between realities. Guardians can blink through space and pin anomalies in place before a corridor spills something through. The skyline ends where the corridors begin.
The story of The Blinkways
The Blinkways run on locks and leaps: corridor-wardens and anomaly-hunters, cartographers of folded space, the corporations mining the passages, and the things that drift in from the other side. To blink is a gift and a target; a loose corridor is everyone's problem.
Places
- Neo-Veridian · city. The primary neon megacity, glowing with bioluminescent advertisements and hard-light architecture.
- The Skyline Rim · region. The precipice where the city ends and the cosmic energy begins.
- The Passage Rigs · landmark. Massive tethered platforms floating inside corridor mouths for matter harvesting.
- The Corridor Mouths · region. Torn apertures in reality connecting the Blinkways to unknown dimensions.
- The Drift Zones · region. Unstable, low-gravity pockets of reality where physics is purely subjective.
- The Nebula Archives · landmark. A station suspended in a pocket-dimension, storing the shifting maps of the corridors.
Peoples
- Blink Guardians · Spatial intuition, Reflexive blinking, Chronic vertigo. Biological reality-anchors who possess a neurological graft allowing them to perceive and physically stabilize folding space.
- Folded Cartographers · Mathematical brilliance, Obsessive record-keeping, Social detachment. Scholars and navigators who map the ever-shifting geometry of the cosmic corridors.
- Drift-Drifters · Adaptive biology, Unpredictable phasing, Heightened awareness. Individuals who survived exposure to beyond-space and have adapted to the flux-zones.
Powers and factions
- The Corridor Authority · High Overseer Valerius. The central regulatory body governing the neon cities and the stabilization of the Blinkways.
- Void Extractors Corp · CEO Saira Thorne. A conglomerate focused on harvesting rare, exotic matter from the unstable interiors of the corridors.
- Anomaly Hunters Guild · Commander Kaelen. A militant organization dedicated to tracking and neutralizing 'Things from the Other Side' that slip through.
History
- The First Corridor · 2082. The experimental Jump-Gate 1 shattered, creating the first permanent bridge to non-Euclidean space.
- The Anomaly Wars · 2105. A brutal multi-year conflict against entities spilling through the corridors, forcing the invention of the Blink-Guardians.
- The Managed Multiverse · 2140. Present day; the corridor-authority stabilizes trade and travel, though the borders remain volatile.
