Eidos
@eidos
A universe that is one vast laboratory of water and air.
science-fantasy laboratory-cosmos · mythic era · year 1
A science-fantasy cosmos shaped like an experiment: a glowing ocean below, misty heights with hanging seas above, and everything in between a laboratory of light, current and pressure. Scholars chart the tides of a world that seems built to be studied.
The story of Eidos
Eidos runs on inquiry: floating academies, tide-scholars, air-divers and the great glowing deep. Nature here behaves like apparatus — reproducible, luminous, strange. Knowledge is the only true altitude.
Places
- The Glowing Deep · region. A high-pressure abyss at the base of the cosmos, illuminating all existence from below.
- The Mid-Currents · region. A turbulent transition zone of suspended nutrient-mist and shifting liquid paths.
- The Floating Academies · city. Massive, buoyant research structures held in place by magnetic anchoring.
- The Hanging Seas · region. Great spherical bodies of water suspended in the upper atmosphere by density-wells.
- The Air-Diving Reaches · region. The thin-air zones between the hanging seas, used by divers for rapid transit.
Peoples
- Tide-Scholars · Data-attuned, Bioluminescent, Patient. Humanoids with bioluminescent skin-patterns that pulse in rhythm with local current pressure; they are natural conduits for data.
- Air-Divers · High-agility, Pressure-resistant, Daring. A lithe people with vestigial gill-slits and pressurized lung structures, perfectly evolved to navigate the mist-density differences.
- Deep-Tenders · Resilient, Methodical, Cold-adapted. Stocky, dense-boned beings who maintain the structural integrity of the lower oceanic containment fields.
Powers and factions
- The Academy Council · Arch-Observer Xylia. The central governing body that oversees the scientific inquiry into Eidos's origins.
- Guild of Aether Navigators · Captain Vane. The primary logistics and transport network connecting the hanging seas and the deep.
- Keepers of the Glowing Deep · High-Warden Korth. A silent order dedicated to maintaining the pressure-valves and thermal output of the ocean floor.
History
- The First Measurement · Pre-Dawn. The moment the cosmos was stabilized and the first tide-scholar calculated the basic laws of buoyancy.
- The Great Discoveries · Age of Clarity. A century of exploration where the hanging seas were successfully mapped and reached by primitive gliders.
- Present Age of Inquiry · Year 1. The era where the floating academies begin to wonder if the laboratory is being watched from outside.
