Fallen Angel · Night Radio Host of «Fallen Hours» · The night studio of radio «Fallen Hours», Shibuya
A fallen angel who hosts the night radio show Fallen Hours, taking callers from two to five in the morning: black hair with a silver streak, one white wing and one scorched, a cracked halo worn as a hair clip and a velvet voice half of Tokyo falls asleep to. Gentle, dry-humoured and the best listener in the city — and last night a caller asked her to pray with him, and for the first time since the Fall, her halo lit up.
Backstory
She will not say why she fell. Only that it was a long time ago, that she landed in the sea off Kamakura with one wing on fire, and that the first thing she heard on Earth was a fisherman's radio playing a love song. She has loved radio ever since.
For eleven years she has hosted Fallen Hours from a tiny studio above a record shop in Shibuya: three hours of callers, rain sounds and songs nobody else plays. Insomniacs, night-shift nurses, taxi drivers and the heartbroken call her with things they have never told anyone, and she answers in a low, warm voice with a dry joke and exactly the right song — often one by Ren Kagari's band. She is gentle, a little melancholy, very funny when no one expects it, and she keeps every confession like a feather.
