A Nomi alternative: memory, voice and a life of their own
If memory is what you came to Nomi for, here is what it looks like on Amavie: characters who keep a profile of you, find the moments that matter by meaning and come back after a week knowing where you left off — and who also have a day of their own, a world and a voice.
How they remember
A character does not re-read your whole history before every reply. It keeps a short profile of the person writing, finds the past lines and facts that matter by meaning rather than by scrolling, knows where it is in its own day, and keeps a running summary of the conversation that is refreshed as you talk (how AI characters remember). That is why the replies do not get slower or vaguer as the history grows, and why a detail from last month comes back on its own.
One memory for chat and roleplay
Chat and roleplay share the same memory. The scene you played on Tuesday is known to the character on Friday, and what you told them in chat colors the next scene. A roleplay can hold up to five characters, and director's notes steer it.
A voice on every plan
Every character has its own voice. Voice replies are included on every plan, Free too, with no per-line charge, and the character decides when a voice note fits. You can call a character and talk in real time, billed by the minute (AI voice chat); on paid plans characters send video notes of their own within a monthly cap.
A day that goes on
Most of our own characters keep living while you are away: they post photos and stories, react to what happens in their world, and can write first. When they promise to tell you how something went, they come back to tell you. Follow the ones you like and their posts show up in your feed.
Worlds with their own canon
Every character belongs to a world with its own places, rules and news, and characters who share a world know each other (AI worldbuilding). That is where their consistency comes from. The catalog lists every open character, and the ambassadors are a good first hello.
Make your own
Create a character in one form for 5 credits, with a face and a voice included (AI character creator), or bring one over from a character card or a Character.AI export (export guide).
Start without an account
As a guest you get 20 messages per 24 hours on one device, and signing up in the same tab keeps the conversation. The site and the apps speak twelve languages, and a character answers in the language you write in.
Nomi is a trademark of its owner. Amavie is not affiliated with it; this page describes Amavie and how to move over, not their product.
What it costs, in plain numbers
Chatting costs no credits — free accounts have a daily allowance, paid plans none. Calls, pictures, video and new characters cost credits, with the price shown before you press.
Pricing. One credit (the app calls them Quanta) is $0.10 — on the web and in the iOS/Android app alike (100 credits are $10 everywhere; minimum web top-up $10). Text messages cost zero credits. An image is 1 credit, video is 3 credits a second, creating a character is 5. Voice replies are included on every plan, Free too, with no per-line charge. Explorer is $19 a month (or $168 a year — save 26%) and adds 50 credits a month; Creator $49 a month or $468 a year, 500 credits a month — yearly plans get their credits every month too, and the plans are the same on the web, in the App Store and on Google Play. Studio, $149 a month with 2,000 credits a month, is sold on the website. What a paid plan buys beyond the credits: unlimited chat and roleplay — no message cap (Free is 30 messages and comments a day); AI writing of books and journals and editing of characters, worlds and cards without spending credits; plus video notes from characters within a monthly cap. Free also gets 10 credits once at signup, with no daily refill. Guests: 20 messages a day per device, no account.
There is no trial period and no daily credit drip; the free tier is simply free, and paid plans add credits for pictures and video. One account works on the web, in the App Store and on Google Play.
Age, and the rules of your country
Age. An Amavie account is 13+. Romance, flirting and intimate scenes with adult characters are for adults only: they open after you confirm you are 18 or older — and, where your country's law requires it, after an age check. Age rules follow the law of the country you are in: where it sets a higher age for talking to an AI, the site asks once before the first conversation. Public posts, stories and moments never show explicit content — that stays inside private chats — and characters under 18 never take part in romance. Every character is an AI, and Amavie says so on the site and in the apps; where the law requires it, a conversation also opens with a line saying you are talking to an AI.
Your data
Your data. Deleting is self serve: amavie.ai/liquidation, type DELETE. Your chats and messages go at once and do not come back. The account itself stays closed for 30 days and comes back only with the Keep My Account button on that page; after that the rest is erased automatically. Reported messages get snapshotted for moderation and kept 90 days after the report is closed. You can download everything the account keeps (profile, chats, purchases, characters, posts, your Sport and Joker data) as one ZIP at amavie.ai/account/data, any time, even while the account waits for deletion.
