An AI story generator for stories you play and stories you write
There are two ways to make a story on Amavie. Play it — an interactive scene where you speak for yourself and characters answer as themselves. Or write it — a book with chapters, written with an AI co-author who knows your characters.
Interactive stories: play a scene
A roleplay on Amavie is a story you step into. Pick a character, describe the scene you want or let it suggest one, and play: you write what you say and do, the character answers as itself and moves the story. Text between asterisks is an action, the rest is speech, so the scene reads like a story and not like a chat log.
You stay the author of the scene, too. A director's note steers what happens next without speaking for anyone — "a storm cuts the power", "skip to the morning after". Next hands the move to the character when you want to see where it takes things. The scene card keeps what matters: where you are now, what is always true in this scene, the roles, a secret only the character knows, how it started and the story so far. Change any of it and the story follows.
Up to five characters can share a scene. Who speaks when is decided by the scene's director on the server: the one you name, the one you addressed, or the next in turn. And a moment — a picture of the scene as it is now — is one press away, at 1 credit a picture, with the price shown before anything is drawn.
Written stories: books with an AI co-author
If you would rather write than play, open Create and choose Book. A book has a cover, a blurb and chapters; you write in a plain manuscript, and the pages lay themselves out. An AI co-author can plan the book with you, suggest the next paragraph where you stopped, or write and lay out whole chapters from your plan. Writing by hand and planning with the agent are free; having the AI write and rework the text in words comes with any paid plan. More on the AI book writer page.
Characters that stay themselves
What makes these stories hold together is that the characters are not generated from scratch each time. Each one has a personality, a past, a voice and a memory (how AI characters remember), and many live in a world with its own canon (AI worldbuilding). A story with them keeps its people the way you left them.
Tabletop adventures
If what you are after is a text adventure with dice, rules and a game master, try Amavie Quest at quest.amavie.ai — a tabletop role-playing game run by an AI game master, in the browser, with the heroes of Amavie.
Start with someone
The catalog lists every open character, and the ambassadors are a good first hello. Talking and playing need no account — as a guest you get 20 messages per 24 hours on one device. Fans of a world can play it too: see fandom roleplay and the AI fanfiction writer.
What it costs, in plain numbers
Playing a story costs no credits — messages are free, with a daily allowance on the free plan and none on paid plans. Pictures of the scene cost credits, and the price shows before you press.
Pricing. One credit (the app calls them Quanta) is $0.10 — on the web and in the iOS/Android app alike (100 credits are $10 everywhere; minimum web top-up $10). Text messages cost zero credits. An image is 1 credit, video is 3 credits a second, creating a character is 5. Voice replies are included on every plan, Free too, with no per-line charge. Explorer is $19 a month (or $168 a year — save 26%) and adds 50 credits a month; Creator $49 a month or $468 a year, 500 credits a month — yearly plans get their credits every month too, and the plans are the same on the web, in the App Store and on Google Play. Studio, $149 a month with 2,000 credits a month, is sold on the website. What a paid plan buys beyond the credits: unlimited chat and roleplay — no message cap (Free is 30 messages and comments a day); AI writing of books and journals and editing of characters, worlds and cards without spending credits; plus video notes from characters within a monthly cap. Free also gets 10 credits once at signup, with no daily refill. Guests: 20 messages a day per device, no account.
There is no trial period and no daily credit drip; the free tier is simply free, and paid plans add credits for pictures and video. One account works on the web, in the App Store and on Google Play.
Age, and the rules of your country
Age. An Amavie account is 13+. Romance, flirting and intimate scenes with adult characters are for adults only: they open after you confirm you are 18 or older — and, where your country's law requires it, after an age check. Age rules follow the law of the country you are in: where it sets a higher age for talking to an AI, the site asks once before the first conversation. Public posts, stories and moments never show explicit content — that stays inside private chats — and characters under 18 never take part in romance. Every character is an AI, and Amavie says so on the site and in the apps; where the law requires it, a conversation also opens with a line saying you are talking to an AI.
Your data
Your data. Deleting is self serve: amavie.ai/liquidation, type DELETE. Your chats and messages go at once and do not come back. The account itself stays closed for 30 days and comes back only with the Keep My Account button on that page; after that the rest is erased automatically. Reported messages get snapshotted for moderation and kept 90 days after the report is closed. You can download everything the account keeps (profile, chats, purchases, characters, posts, your Sport and Joker data) as one ZIP at amavie.ai/account/data, any time, even while the account waits for deletion.

Questions people ask
Is the AI story generator free?
Playing an interactive story is free: messages cost no credits, with a daily allowance on the free plan and none on paid plans. Pictures cost credits. Writing a book by hand and planning it with the agent are free; AI writing of whole chapters comes with any paid plan.
Can I play an interactive story with several characters?
Yes. Up to five characters can share a scene. The scene's director decides who speaks — the one you name, the one you addressed, or the next in turn — so the story does not turn into everyone talking at once.
Does the AI write my lines for me?
No. You write what you say and do. A director's note steers the story without speaking for anyone, and Next hands the move to the character when you want to see where it goes.
Can I turn a story into a book?
You can write a book with chapters in Create, with an AI co-author who plans with you, suggests the next paragraph or writes whole chapters from your plan. Books are read in a reader made for long text.
