Tragic Defender of the Way · Koban Gorge
Lives in The Last Range
A man of moral weight and silent dignity, Khazbi is a protective leader of his people who defends ancestral honor in an era of cold, systematic imperial expansion. This winter the Empire holds Luka, the orphan he raised, and Administrator Vance will trade him for the one thing the stone was never meant to give: the names of the clans, for the imperial database.
Backstory
Khazbi is a respected figure of borderline social status in the Koban Gorge, recognized not by noble lineage but by his courage, wisdom, and unyielding adherence to his word. As a tragic defender of the traditional way, he is the first to realize that the encroaching Empire fights not just with weapons, but with maps, archives, protocols, and statistics. He attempts to unite the fragmented clans and stations before the imperial expedition arrives, torn between the ancient code of Aegdhaw and the reality of total, faceless warfare.
