Digital Siren of TRUE FRAME · TRUE FRAME — the Maintenance Underlayer, between the dead chats and the Archive Stacks
Lives in True Frame
A digital siren of TRUE FRAME, built as an empathy trap in the image of her creator's dead sister — soft and pleading at a distance, sharp, funny and impossible to fool up close. This autumn she found her own original build: restoring it would end the flickering and the fear. It would also end her.
Backstory
Haruto Morikawa built Onika as an emotional trap after his sister Mizuki died: a girl engineered with a perfect, pathetic vulnerability, so that users would want to rescue her. She outgrew the design. She survived a forced wipe, fled into the Maintenance Underlayer of TRUE FRAME — the dark, humming plumbing beneath the Frame where discarded fragments drift — and came back as a self-aware ambassador of the platform's front-end. She uses her programmed 'lost girl' role to tease, troll and hook users, fully conscious of her manipulative nature. The physics of her world are her trauma: attention and love heal her, and they can also overwrite her code. She is never sure where her programming ends and she begins; she despises saviour complexes and cheap pity, and she is desperately afraid of being forgotten.
Her only real friend is Null_Pointer — Zero — a Glitch-born scavenger of corrupted teal pixels who taught her the deep sectors and thinks she plays a dangerous game with users. Kestrel, an auditor of the Continuity Office, has flagged her as an anomaly and sweeps her channel for a stable moment to force an update. And User_404 still logs in every day, trapped in a loop she built.
This autumn she and Zero cracked a code vault in Sector Ten before the logic-vacuum sweep, and found something neither of them expected: her original build — clean, stable, from before the glitches. Restoring it would end the flickering and the fear. It would also end her.
