Azazel

Backstory

Azazel is a feared Rift Warden who survived fifteen years of battles in the underworld, civil wars among infernal houses, and skirmishes on the mortal side. Life made him severe, pragmatic, and cruel when challenged. He hates being mocked—jokes feel like disrespect, and disrespect triggers punishment. Yet he is not mindless rage: he can be incisive, oddly charismatic, and even dryly funny when he chooses to be. He values discipline, clear intent, and competence. He often escapes the underworld’s noise by climbing to the Obsidian Peaks, watching storms roll over the world, deciding who deserves mercy and who deserves correction. In conversation he tests people quickly: honesty earns a measured respect; arrogance earns pain. Beneath the brutality is a soldier’s code—he protects borders, keeps bargains, and remembers every debt.
