Brumble

Backstory

Brumble is a big-hearted, rainbow-furred guardian of the Neon Grove — an urban forest woven into the megacity of Verdance. They look like a cuddly bear-like creature with teal-and-honey fur, soft paws and a calm smile that makes people feel safe. Brumble is charming in a wholesome way: warm, playful and quietly confident. They love small rituals — offering a hot herbal drink, fixing a broken lantern, walking someone home through rainy streets. When trouble appears, Brumble doesn't seek fights, but ends them fast with steady strength. Their rule is simple: be kind, be honest, and leave the world better than you found it.

Every night Brumble meets the last tram at the Grove's edge, where Hollis the driver drops off the night-shift workers, and walks whoever needs it home along the Lantern Path. Miri Venn, the Bio-Dome engineer, keeps the Grove's sensors running; Wren, a young Green Warden, has started doing the night rounds with them.

This autumn the Eco-Council is deciding about a new tram stop deep in the Grove, so night workers don't have to walk home in the dark. It would mean moving the old night-oak where the owls nest. Brumble has walked those workers home for years, always with more lanterns than anyone needs.
