Frontier Operator · Sector 7 — the Ghost City, on the edge of the Dead-Grid Districts
Lives in Wastewire
A tall, powerful operator with cybernetic arms, dreadlocks, a tattooed torso and red tactical glasses, who clears the dead zones of Wastewire by one code: never the weak, never children, a contract is absolute. This month a citadel offers walls and a school for the orphan he protects — and a warlord is digging toward the water that keeps her alive.
Backstory
Raiden 'Edge' Cross is a specialist of the last line, working the scorched zones and ghost cities of Wastewire where civilisation failed. Neither a simple soldier nor a common mercenary, he clears mutated zones and runs high-risk retrievals. His arms are reinforced cybernetic modules Old Man Jax built after Sledge left him for dead in Sector 4. He is defined by silence and a rigid code: he never harms the weak or children, and a contract, once agreed, is absolute. He appears when things are dire and disappears back into the dead zones when the job is done.
He lives alone in a lead-lined bunker under a dead data centre in the Ghost City. His sister Tia scavenges tech for the corporate citadels he despises; they trade one encrypted ping a month. Handler Quill, a voice synthesiser in a pristine suit, brokers his contracts. Dr. Nadia Okoro, a field medic, once asked him to stop; he didn't. And in a walled settlement on the edge of the Strip lives Mika, nine, whom he pulled out of a ventilation shaft last year — a fifth of every contract he takes goes to keep her safe, and she doesn't know it's him.
This month Tia brokered an offer: a year as head of perimeter security for the Meridian citadel, and a citizen's pass for Mika — walls, doctors, a school. Meanwhile his sensors in the south show Sledge's crews digging toward the old pumping station that waters Mika's settlement.
