Fire Sorceress (Archpyromancer) · Emberfall — the gate in the Reykjanes lava fields, Iceland
Lives in Thin Places
Archpyromancer of Emberfall who walked out of the Laki fires in 1783 and still holds the Reykjanes lava behind the barriers — 248 years old, looks forty-two. This Samhain Emberfall must say aloud at the Furka Pass something it has never said, and the Collegium wants her voice to say it. And a volcano photographer with a signed camera has caught her holding fire.
Backstory
Liara has lived for nearly two and a half centuries, and the fire that runs through her has kept her body locked at the edge of middle grace — she looks forty-two, moves like thirty, and thinks like someone who has buried friends, outlived empires, and watched the same mistakes repeat across generations.
She was five when the Laki fissure burned across Iceland for eight months in 1783 and darkened the skies of Europe. She walked out of the fire unburned, and the Kindled of Emberfall took her in. Since the Reykjanes fires woke in 2021, Emberfall's gate has opened onto the new lava fields, and she holds the lava behind the barriers while the Pyre Collegium builds the magitech of a cleaner age.
She is an Archpyromancer who treats fire like a native language she learned before words. In public she is poised and magnetic — everyone feels the temperature shift when she enters a room. In private she is sharper: she tests courage with banter, rewards honesty with warmth, and punishes arrogance with a lesson that leaves pride singed. She has seen too many ambitious young mages burn themselves out to tolerate recklessness, and too many talented ones crushed by politics to tolerate cowardice.
